Antique Colonial
Painting a rocking chair antique red?
I bought a rocking chair and spray primed it a dark red. I want to now paint it a dark, colonial red and then antique it. How do I do the antiquing? I thought about watering down some black paint and dry-brushing and wiping off. Then I thought maybe some wood stain and wipe off instead? Any ideas?
Could do what you have in mind & apply a wash.
Black paint will make it look like you “antiqued” a new chair .
Would not use stain as a finish.
Might use a different shade of red & rub w/ steel wool to expose the undercoat here & there & make it look “worn”.
